How businesses can work with the EBRD

The EBRD has worked with thousands of businesses – from small family-owned enterprises to state-run transport network operators. We tailor our products and approaches to the needs of each individual client, drawing on three decades of regional knowledge and financial expertise.

We engage with businesses in a number of ways, both directly and indirectly.

Finance for projects

Larger businesses can benefit directly from our range of financial products. These are fully tailored to the circumstances of individual clients, rather than being off-the-shelf products.

To be eligible for EBRD investment, businesses must be located and legally based in one of the economies where we invest, and they must operate in one of the business sectors that we work in.

Project finance is at the heart of what we do, and the EBRD is proud of its financial credentials and regional track record. We invite prospective clients to read more about why they should work with us.

Our Business Development Group provides a key entry point for investors interested in our regions, working to understand companies’ business and investment goals, and matching them with tailored services offered by the Bank.

Advisory services and finance for smaller businesses

The EBRD works closely with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering access to financial services through both direct and indirect routes. We also provide advisory support by connecting SMEs with expert consultants based locally in our regions of operations. In the economies where we invest, 99 per cent of all companies are classified as SMEs, so this sector is a vital ingredient for a healthy market economy.

Procurement for EBRD projects

Our projects generate many procurement opportunities for businesses. Around 300 such contracts are awarded each year, with a total value of about €3 billion.

Individuals and companies from all over the world take part in the Bank’s projects as suppliers, contractors, service providers and consultants.

All of our project-related procurement opportunities are managed through an online portal.

Corporate procurement for EBRD offices and operations

We also publish procurement notices for corporate procurement opportunities, which cover everything from office and building services to business consultancy. Corporate procurement is also managed through an online platform, where interested suppliers can register and apply for contracts.
