Canada represents three of the four SEMED countries (Morocco, Jordan and Tunisia) and respective Board Directors at the Bank.

In 2022, Canada provided a €36.5 million unfunded guarantee to enable, together with other contributors, a €300 million EBRD loan to Naftogaz.

In 2023, Canada also joined the EBRD’s High-Impact Partnership on Climate Action (HIPCA) to help accelerate climate action and environmental sustainability.

Canadian (seven) banks also participate in the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) as confirming banks. Since inception, the TFP has supported 63 export and import transactions for Canadian companies for a total € 55.00 million, for transactions which were initiated by banks in the EBRD countries of operation and confirmed by banks in both Canada and abroad. Seven Canadian banks and branches of banks have joined the programme as Confirming Banks (all figures as of December 2023).

From 2018 to 2023, entities from Canada won 132 procurement and consultancy contracts worth ca. €8 million.
