The EBRD is an established debt issuer in the capital markets. The Bank continuously develops innovative products and has a broad investor base. This track record enables the EBRD to access the markets at any time and in the borrowing volumes needed to support the Bank’s development targets. 

As at 31 December 2023, under its annual Borrowing Programme, EBRD has issued €142.6 billion* in approximately 3,000 medium-to-long term transactions and in 63 currencies (including Euro legacy currencies).  Of these, 477 bonds totalling €40.5 billion were outstanding at year-end 2023.  Issuance includes vanilla, public benchmark bonds in international markets as well as in domestic bond markets, as well as private placements that include innovative funding structures.  In addition, the EBRD issues bonds that will mature or be callable or puttable within 380 days of the original issue date under its short-term funding limit. As at 31 December 2023, 72 bonds totalling €3.9 billion were additionally outstanding.
