Kazuhiko Koguchi

Kazuhiko Koguchi assumed his role as Secretary General of the EBRD in August 2021. 

The Secretary General is a member of the Executive Committee and works with the President, the Board of Governors and the Board of Directors.

In addition to assuming responsibility for the EBRD's Annual Meeting, the Secretary General promotes the Bank's mission among its members and international institutions.

Mr Koguchi has had a long career working in government and international institutions. He started his career at the Ministry of Finance of Japan, where he held senior positions in the areas of international finance, trade and taxation.  He represented his country as Executive Director on the Boards of the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank.

During his time at the EBRD, he has worked in the Financial Institutions team, and in country management in Central Asia.

A Japanese citizen, Mr Koguchi holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Tokyo.
