EBRD projects News stories Contacts

Multilateral development banks such as the EBRD have a unique convening power that allows them to bring experts, governments and private-sector players together to accelerate the green transition. Our approach focuses on complementarity – leveraging knowledge and combining it with our financing and policy tools to scale up impact.

The EBRD works with a range of knowledge and capacity-building partners to ensure that technical expertise translates into real-world investments. For example, we work with sector associations that bring cutting-edge knowledge, while the EBRD helps to mobilise the financing that is required to put solutions into practice. By combining expertise with investment, we foster adoption of the latest green technologies.

The EBRD engages with, advises and is an active member of several working groups and networks that develop and share best practices. These include the Joint MDB Climate Finance Group, the European Commission's Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance, the IFI Technical Working Group on Greenhouse Gas Accounting, the UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance, Climate Action in Financial Institutions and the Network for Greening the Financial System.
