This issue of Law in Transition focuses on promoting sustainable market economies through commercial law reform. In particular, it considers how EBRD legal experts are helping to improve the investment climate and combat corruption in the Bank’s countries of operations.
Topics covered in this issue include public procurement reform in Ukraine; strengthening corporate governance; non-performing loan resolution in emerging Europe; promoting the use of mediation as an alternative form of dispute resolution; platforms for public-private dialogue on enhancing the investment climate; cooperation between multilateral development banks in tackling corrupt practices by companies; trends in legislation covering public-private partnerships; and donor support for financial law reform.
The journal also examines the best legal and regulatory framework for the development of information and communications infrastructure such as broadband; for the promotion of private investment in green technology; and for the growth of capital markets.
This latest issue of Law in Transition draws on contributions from a wide range of experts working in the Bank’s region of operations and beyond. Their hard-won lessons and ideas can be applied to many countries facing similar challenges.
