Inflation started coming down as increases in the prices of energy, and to a lesser extent food, moderated, but disinflation is expected to become slower as core inflation dominates price increases. Europe reduced gas consumption by more than 20 per cent during the winter of 2022-23, largely through changes in the structure of industrial production.
