Managing Director, Environment and Sustainability
Henrik Linders joined the EBRD in November 2021 as Managing Director for Environment and Sustainability.
He ensures that the Bank delivers on its commitment to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable development across the EBRD's activities. His department consists of around 40 environmental and social specialists who undertake environmental due diligence and monitoring of projects being implemented.
In this role, Mr Linders ensures that all investments are consistent with the EBRD's Environmental and Social Policy and associated procedures. He is also responsible for providing strategic direction to the EBRD on how to implement its environmental mandate and incorporate environmental and social aspects into all sector and country policies and strategies.
A trained environmental and natural resources engineer, Mr Linders has spent his career working in environmental engineering, infrastructure development, and environmental and social governance.
During six years at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UN OPS), the United Nations' project delivery arm, he led environmental, social and governance (ESG) policy, risk management and sustainable infrastructure initiatives.
Before his time at UN OPS, he spent eight years working at the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Compliance Advisor Ombudsman, including as Head of Environmental and Social Compliance.
Mr Linders is a Swedish national.
