2009 Annual Meeting and Business Forum (May 2009)

The 18th Annual Meeting took place at the EBRD Headquarters in London and attracted well over 1,000 representatives from government, business, NGOs, civil society and the media.

EBRD to invest in Turkey (October 2008)

President Mirow travels to Istanbul to meet Turkish government representatives and formalise a decision by the EBRD's Board of Governors for the Bank to start investing in Turkey. The decision came at a time when the global economy was feeling the impact of the worst financial crisis since '30s.

President Mirow visits Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia (September 2008)

In his first visit to countries where the EBRD operates, Thomas Mirow meets governments officials and companies benefiting from EBRD finance in Belgrade and Sarajevo.

2008 Annual Meeting and Business Forum (May 2008)

Conference: Fighting food inflation (March 2008)

At the height of the food crisis, representatives from governments, the private sector and international financial institutions met at the EBRD to explore practical steps for sustainable investment in agriculture. FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf was among the participants.

Conference: Financing clean energy (March 2007)

Companies, government representatives at the highest level from the G-8 countries and the G-20 nations, and the presidents of the multilateral development banks met at the EBRD headquarters in London to discuss concrete initiatives in critical energy-related sectors. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown (then UK Chancellor of the Exchequer) spoke at the conference.
